When Axelle was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Charcot’s disease, her world and that of her loved ones shifted in a second.
Faced with a disease that slowly takes movement away, she and her family decided to respond in the most powerful way they could: by moving.
Together with Axelle, the Van Oost, Mineur and Barbera families are taking on a bold challenge: to collectively travel the circumference of the Earth, 40.075 kilometres, within a year.
The challenge will symbolically end on June 21st, 2026, International ALS Day.
Axelle is fully invested in this challenge, not only as its catalyst, but as an active participant.
Each kilometer she and her loved ones walk, run, cycle, swim, ride, glide or sail is recorded through Strava.
And if the total distance goes far beyond one trip around the planet? Even better!
If you’d like to support this journey, you can by sharing the challenge or by donating to ALS research. Every gesture helps!
The ALS League supports people living with ALS and their families, helps provide equipment and care, and funds important research. For donations of €40 or more, a tax certificate will be issued, making your contribution tax-deductible.
By donating, you will have a direct and meaningful impact on Axelle’s life. She hopes to use her voice and her journey to raise awareness and stand up for others facing the same disease. Your support helps Axelle to do that, and brings us all closer to a breakthrough.
Want to donate from abroad? This link doesn’t always work internationally but you can also add money to the cause through bank transfer.

To stay in motion. To raise awareness. To support research.
